As a wildlife refuge, Wilsons Prom is home to a host of native species, including wombats, emus, echidnas, and of course, kangaroos. The array of bold and beautiful bird species is also impressive, so look out for streaks of colour in the trees.
As our adventure unfolds, keep an eye out and see how many you can cross off the list. The wombats are extra nosy and love to come and say hello- or try to steal some snacks- so look out for them poking around!
The Australian wildflowers are also something to behold, particularly if you join us in the spring months when orchids are in full bloom. Additionally, the colours are breathtaking, and native shrubbery such as mangroves and other tropical rainforest fixtures breathe life into the rocky granite coast.
Part of the dramatic beauty of Wilsons Prom is the rugged, mountainous terrain that juts out against the ocean. Trails are suitable for all ages and abilities, so you don’t need to be a triathlete to enjoy the breathtaking views from the Mount Oberon lookout point.
The way the hiking trails weave through the rainforest, rocky slopes, open beaches, and sheltered tidal rivers lined with boulders. Immerse yourself in the uniquely diverse landscape and leave the real world behind.

Potentially the most famous Wilsons Prom highlight is Squeaky beach. 700 kilometres of stunning snow-white quartz sand that disappears under the turquoise waves, it is no wonder every visitor to this part of the country heads straight for this particular bay.
The postcard-worthy views are not what makes this beach so famous; it is the high-pitched, squeaky noise that comes with every step. Children love hopping around making music with their feet, and the big kids among us find it just as entertaining. The condensing dry quartz creates the squeaky sound under your feet, but you can tell the kids it’s simply magic!
Not to be outdone by its celebrity neighbour, the nearby bay by the name of Normans Beach is a wonder in its own right. The sprawling, entirely flat sandy plain looks decidedly extra-terrestrial at first glance. Stretching over a kilometre and a half, Normans beach makes you feel free.
Sitting at the foot of the rugged Mount Oberon slopes, the contrasting landscapes are breathtaking. Walk, run, cycle, or simply sit and enjoy your surroundings: it is completely up to you.
On the way to the coastline, stroll alongside the Tidal River. It snakes through hidden coves shielded by huge boulders and scattered shrubs. The sun-warmed shallow water is perfect for playing in, and the whole area feels like a perfectly designed natural playground. With campsites and pic-nick spots dotted along the way, this is one of the most visited sights in the park.
